An unknown city is viewable in the background of Green hill zone. Possibly a mockup screeshot. Trees and a brown rock are viewable in the forground. The rock viewable is bluish purple in the final game.
Blurred, but you can make out a sign behind sonic. It says "Welcome" and what appears to be Kanji under it. The city is viewable once again, as are the forground trees.
This was an object that was once found in the game. It is still in the debug mode listing, unfortunatly, not placable.

A shield monitor is not in this spot in the final game.

Debug in the lower right corner, no lives listed. It is possible that instead of replacing the score function, the debug once replaced the lives function.
