Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 succeeded just as well if not better than its predecessor on the Genesis/Megadrive. With the pockets of the faithful Master System owners still wide open, Sega had no choice but to make a version of the game for them, too. What resulted was something very similar to the port of the original Sonic the Hedgehog. Instead of directly porting the level designs, new ones were put in place. This of course was to also appeal to owners of both of their systems and still be able to make sales on the Genesis version if Master System owners ever decided to buy one.

The story of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Master System is that Sonic's new friend, Tails, has been captured by Robotnik and Sonic must collect all 6 chaos emeralds to rescue him. Unlike the Genesis/Megadrive version of the game, Sonic will not be able to become Super Sonic at any time. The emeralds are as seemingly useless as they were before. However, this does not take away from the joy the game provides. It is a game worthy of the label "Sonic".
